All too often I have seen service providers suggesting to local business owners that they “wish to learn how to”, “learn how to” or “learn to” do something. Most local business owners answer, “why do I need to learn to?”
Most, if that is the case, are really just playing with words to get you to buy their product or service; and sure, the answer almost always is, “I don’t actually know, and neither did they”.
I decided to stop what I was doing the other night. For anticipation, I went off by myself to look at the yellow pages and looked for the wild card job listings. Here I turned, stumbled upon the ad for “Website Developer”. I saw a job board for this industry long before I had even heard that someone was searching and I joined their community.
I began to chat with several of them and asked two very basic questions. How much did I know about this industry, and what did I think? And what would it cost?
The answer to the questions I was asked appeared to be, “You don’t actually know”. At which point I was stunned by the attitude and lack of information displayed by some of the providers I had just contacted.
I spent the next two days sifting through the numerous posts that people were leaving, replies and posts with questions and comments. To be expected, the same questions and comments were being asked again and again. My experience, both as a seller and a potential buyer, was that there was nothing new to be learned. Each person that I contacted had the same questions. I had already posted a request for help on what I required. Believe me, many of the replies, after a nice reply from someone, told me no. jayapoker had post the initial request already on a website. I knew there was something wrong somewhere.
By the time I managed to contact anyone again, people seemed to have already forgotten about my post. Either they either forgot they had posted it or responded by sending me a “whining sales letter” and then Mr. Seller obliged by doing something similar.
Among the emails I received, there were some good questions about the article I had already posted. I include them for those posting in a business that is absolutely true, thereby gaining you some information that has already been posted.
What I did not find was any one who had actually purchased what I needed. No one had actually used it to build their business.
I was getting frustrated. Although, I found as I looked through the site that they had helped more than I had used the articles/websites. They had inexperienced people that were Experts in their field. Very few were complete or even interested in learning. Some had basic knowledge and they were willing to teach others just how they had helped them. That seemed to be the best source of information. Those that were interested in learning even put what they worried about in the notes. They were basically offering ” Advice on handling any situation pertaining to the field”
All in all, it seems that the founders of this site were recapitulating the old school business model of asking people to not buy products. https://jaya2016.com – We didn’t try to get our money back. We actually took what we did not buy and put it to good use to enhance our business and create an even better experience for our customers.
You might learn something new, and most you will. I found a good additional resource. I know. I am more than a little disappointed. I use another provider now.
